The Square Affair

Located in the center of the South and the Center of Mississippi near the southern automotive corridor, Leake County enjoys all the benefits of the metropolitan area without the hassle and costs of living in the big city.
Leake County combines a comfortable “country-style” of living with all the cultural activities and conveniences of the metropolitan area of Jackson right next door.

Leake County is the 10th fastest growing county in Mississippi in population. Our community offers many economic advantages for businesses and a great quality of living for your employees.

Everything you need to know about starting, growing, or moving a business to the central Mississippi area, can be found here – plus a whole lot more. We have assembled extensive information on economic development and community information including demographics, taxes, business incentives, available buildings and sites, utilities, workforce, education, relocation assistance, visitor information, existing business, cost of living, and much more.

THE SQUARE AFFAIR

Barbara Bowen Chairman of  The Square Affair is asking for volunteers to help with the festival planned for  Saturday, May 17.

The Committee has met several times and plans are underway.

The Heart of MS 5k run and walk, the annual Fishing Rodeo at McMillan Park, the arts and crafts vendors, a Backyard Cook- Off, the Leake Idol competition,  local entertainment, a pet parade and show, a tricycle and bicycle race, a quilt show, and numerous inflatables for the children are just a few of the events planned for that day.

Food vendors have been asked to come.  The local band, Cain’s Fall will entertain during the day.  The committee is working on entertainment for the night at The Sasser Park and to close the day there will be a big fireworks display.

Saturday May 10, Felder Rushing will present a program hosted by the Dogwood Trails Garden Club leading up to the Square Affair.   The Committee is hoping to have flowers and fresh fruits for sale the day of the Square Affair.
