The Main Street Chamber to Postpone Two Events


After careful consideration for the welfare of Leake Counties children and the concern of the Coronavirus growing, The Main Street Chamber is postponing two upcoming events. The Annual Career for a Day will be postponed for several weeks and the Family Movie Night scheduled for March 20th will be postponed. The Main Street Chamber Board felt that this was in the best interest of everyone involved. These events will be rescheduled in the coming weeks. At this time no other events will be affected.

Picking 35 Returns for a fourth year

Square Affair 2020

Get ready for Square Affair 2020 set for May 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Carthage Coliseum.  This year’s featured events include: The Baptist Medical Center Heart of Mississippi 5k run, The Tyson lawn tractor pull, The Club 66 car show, The Boswell Media “So you think you can Sing” karaoke contest, The kids fishing rodeo, Arts and Crafts Vendors and so much more. Oktoberfest set for October 1st and 2nd.

The 48th Annual Oktoberfest returns to the Carthage Coliseum on Friday October 1st and Saturday, October 2nd.  It will run Friday from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This year will feature arts and crafts from bird houses to leather goods and holiday decorations to homemade jams and jellies. Booth space is rapidly filling up, if you would like a space contact The Main Street Chamber of Leake County at 601-267-9231. For the kids there will be the Tyson pumpkin patch where they can decorate their pumpkins for Halloween and more. The will also be food of all types from homemade cakes to chicken on a stick.    It is a great time to get started on you Christmas gifts needs with that one of a kind item for that special person on your list.  Oktoberfest is free to the public with door prizes every hour.  Join us for this family friendly event.
